Five Steps to Create Your Estate Plan

Preparing your estate plan should not be a rash decision. Making decisions to “protect your estate for your loved ones” takes precise planning and ongoing evaluation. For this reason we’ve created a five step process during which we work together to create a plan that is designed to accomplish your goals. We take the time to understand the intricacies of your unique situation because we recognize that no two clients are the same. We guide you to create a complete, customized estate plan to protect your loved ones and your assets.

1. Discovery

We review your past estate plans, including any wills or trusts. We discuss any recent changes in your assets or heirs, then talk about your options for avoiding probate and reducing or eliminating estate and income taxes.

2. Analysis

We meet again to discuss your completed forms, and we answer any other questions about your estate plan. We provide expert advice and guide you to picking the best options for you and your loved ones. Then, the first draft of your estate plan is sent to you within one week.

3.  Revision

With your help, we make any changes that you want. We often make two or three revisions to the original plan, until you approve the final draft. Once you approve of your estate plan, we schedule a final meeting to sign and notarize your documents.

4. Signing

We meet again to go through every page of your estate plan one more time. Our notary helps you properly sign these papers, at no cost and our staff acts as witnesses for your will. Finally, we talk about other financial or tax options which may benefit you.

5.  Funding

As an option, we will prepare all of the paperwork, including deeds for land and transfer documents for banking, or investment accounts, to immediately protect your loved ones and your assets.
